Cardinal temperatures and modeling of vegetative development in guava AGRIAMBI
Ferreira,Mábele de C.; Martins,Fabrina B.; Florêncio,Gabriel W. L.; Pasin,Liliana A. A. P..
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to estimate cardinal temperatures (base, optimum, and maximum), and simulate the vegetative development of guava crop through phyllochron (linear) and Wang and Engel (nonlinear) models at the seedling phase. The experiment was conducted in Itajubá, MG, Brazil (22° 24’ 46.43” S 45° 26’ 48.94” W), for two years in a completely randomized design with twelve sowing dates and five experimental units per treatment, totaling sixty experimental units. The cardinal temperatures were estimated using twelve methods described in the literature and the values were: base, 10.9 °C, optimum, 17.3 °C and maximum, 51.2 °C. The phyllochron model was superior to Wang and Engel’s model for simulation of vegetative growth of guava, with root...

Cardinal temperatures and thermal requirements for the initial development of two Brazilian native species PAB
Ferreira,Mábele de Cássia; Martins,Fabrina Bolzan; Florêncio,Gabriel Wilson Lorena; Silva,João Pedro Guimarães Cândido; Pasin,Liliana Auxiliadora Avelar Pereira.
Abstract: The objective of this work was to estimate the cardinal temperatures and to quantify the thermal requirements for the initial development of seedlings of the native tree species Citharexylum myrianthum and Bixa orellana. A field experiment was carried out in a completely randomized design, in a 2?12 factorial arrangement (2 tree species and 12 sowing dates), with five replicates. The base, optimum, and maximum temperatures for the development of C. myrianthum were 11.4, 18.1, and 36.6°C, and, for B. orellana, 12.0, 18.4, and 46.4°C. The thermal requirements for the development of C. myrianthum was 66.7°C day per leaf, and, for B. orellana, 82.5°C day per leaf. In the initial development, B. orellana shows a large thermal amplitude and is tolerant...

Estimated phyllochron in low tunnel cultivated strawberry cultivars Ciência Rural
Cocco,Kassia Luiza Teixeira; Schmidt,Denise; Caron,Braulio Otomar; Souza,Velci Queiroz de; Fontana,Daniele Cristina; Paula,Gizelli Moiano de.
ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to determine phyllochron in strawberry cultivars, from two origins during two crop years, conducted in low tunnel. Experiments were conducted at the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, campus Frederico Westphalen (CESNORS/UFSM), Brazil, evaluating 'Camarosa', 'Camino Real' and 'Albion' strawberry cultivars. During the 2012 crop year, seedlings from Chile and Pelotas/RS, Brazil were evaluated, for the 2013 crop year, only seedlings from Chile were submitted to evaluations. In order to determine the phyllochron, twice a week the numbers of leaves (NL) of the main crown were counted and a regression between NL and accumulated thermal time (ATT) was held. The experimental design was a complete randomized block, with three...

Impact of elevated temperature scenarios on potato leaf development REA
Streck,Nereu A.; Uhlmann,Lilian O.; Zanon,Alencar J.; Bisognin,Dilson A..
The objective of this study was to simulate the impact of elevated temperature scenarios on leaf development of potato in Santa Maria, RS, Brazil. Leaf appearance was estimated using a multiplicative model that has a non-linear temperature response function which calculates the daily leaf appearance rate (LAR, leaves day-1) and the accumulated number of leaves (LN) from crop emergence to the appearance of the upper last leaf. Leaf appearance was estimated during 100 years in the following scenarios: current climate, +1 °C, +2 °C, +3 °C, +4 °C e +5 °C. The LAR model was estimated with coefficients of the Asterix cultivar in five emergence dates and in two growing seasons (Fall and Spring). Variable of interest was the duration (days) of the crop emergence...

Maize leaf development under climate change scenarios PAB
Streck,Nereu Augusto; Langner,Josana Andréia; Lago,Isabel.
The objective of this work was to simulate maize leaf development in climate change scenarios at Santa Maria, RS, Brazil, considering symmetric and asymmetric increases in air temperature. The model of Wang & Engel for leaf appearance rate (LAR), with genotype-specific coefficients for the maize variety BRS Missões, was used to simulate tip and expanded leaf accumulated number from emergence to flag leaf appearance and expansion, for nine emergence dates from August 15 to April 15. LAR model was run for each emergence date in 100-year climate scenarios: current climate, and +1, +2, +3, +4 and +5°C increase in mean air temperature, with symmetric and asymmetric increase in daily minimum and maximum air temperature. Maize crop failure due to frost...

Morphogenetic traits and biomass accumulation of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Xaraés subjected to nitrogen doses R. Bras. Zootec.
Cabral,Welton Batista; Souza,Alexandre Lima de; Alexandrino,Emerson; Toral,Fábio Luiz Buranelo; Bonelli,Emerson Alencar; Lima,Leni Rodrigues de.
The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the morphogenetic traits and biomass accumulation of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Xaraés subjected to doses of N (0, 125, 250, 375 and 500 kg.ha-1 N). The treatments were arranged in a completely randomized design with four replications. Morphogenetic traits and biomass accumulation of dry matter (DM).ha-1 were evaluated. The results were subjected to statistical analysis by grouping the data in two periods, rainy season and throughout the year. Nitrogen doses influenced leaf appearance in the rainy season and throughout the year, with significant increase in leaf elongation during the rainy season, an increase of 56% compared with control. During this period, maximum dose of N (248.1 kg.ha-1) produced 214.49...

Phyllochron of Paspalum notatum FL. and Coelorhachis selloana (HACK.) camus in natural pasture Scientia Agricola
Eggers,Lilian; Cadenazzi,Mónica; Boldrini,Ilsi Iob.
Leaf appearance rate and phyllochron are related variables which play a central role in forage production. Phyllochron is the time interval between the appearance of successive leaves and varies according to a number of environmental factors, among which temperature is the most important. The experiment was conducted in natural pasture with the aim of testing phyllochron variation under different seasons, herbage allowances, and topographic positions. Marked tillers were used to define the phyllochron, establishing a relationship between the number of leaves produced against thermal time during the sampling period. The time (expressed in °C) needed for the emergence of a leaf is equal to 1/b, where b is the slope coefficient of the regression. The lines...
